FAQs
What do you laser engrave on?
Right now we offer slate coasters and soft-touch pens — the two materials we engrave most cleanly and stock blanks for. Looking for engraving on something else? Drop us a line and we'll see what we can do.
Will the engraving fade or wear off?
No — laser engraving is a physical, permanent mark in the material, not ink or paint. There's nothing to chip, peel, or fade. On slate the engraving comes out a bright contrasting white; on the soft-touch pens it cuts cleanly through the soft coating to the lighter material underneath.
Are slate coasters dishwasher-safe?
The engraving itself is permanent, but slate is porous — please don't put it in the dishwasher. Wipe with a damp cloth or warm soapy water and let it air dry. Slate coasters work fine on a patio in fair weather; bring them in for harsh conditions.
Can you engrave text, logos, or both?
Both — names, monograms, full logos, and illustrations. If it can be cleanly vectorized, we can engrave it. The laser doesn't do color, so think contrast and crisp lines, not gradients.
What file format works best?
Vector files (SVG, AI, PDF, EPS) are ideal — clean lines, crisp text. Black-and-white PNG or JPG at 300 DPI also works fine for simpler designs. If you've only got a rough sketch, send it over and we'll help you clean it up.
What's the minimum order, and how fast?
- Pens: minimum order is 10.
- Slate coasters: minimum is 1, but priced at our 4-coaster rate.
Turnaround on laser orders is 1–2 business days production.
